Hosting and maintenance plan

Hosting, backups, updates and small edits, billed monthly. Cancel with 30 days' notice.

What the plan is

A website needs looking after once it is live. It has to be hosted somewhere, backed up, and kept up to date, and every so often something small needs to change: a photo swapped, a line of text corrected, a new phone number. The hosting and maintenance plan is how Jeff takes care of all of that for you, so you are not left to work out the technical side yourself.

The plan is optional. You do not need it to own your site. The website and the domain belong to you either way, and there is no long-term contract.

It is billed monthly, and the price is given on the call rather than printed on this page.

Because Jeff built the site, he is also the person looking after it. When you need a small change, you ask the person who knows how the site was made.

What is in the plan

Four things, handled monthly.

  1. Hosting

    Your site is hosted for you, so it stays online without you having to arrange anything.

  2. Backups

    Copies of your site are kept, so a problem does not mean starting over.

  3. Updates

    The updates the site needs are made for you and not left to pile up.

  4. Small edits

    Swapping a photo, changing a line of text or fixing a detail gets done without a new project.

What is not included, and leaving

Small edits are small. New pages are not part of the plan: a new page is a separate piece of work, and Jeff will talk it through with you when you want one.

The plan is the only recurring item, and there is no long-term contract behind it. Taking it or leaving it changes nothing about who owns the site.

If you decide to leave, give 30 days' notice on the plan. You get a zipped copy of your site and 30 days to move it before the next bill. Another designer can move it for you, or Jeff can move it for a flat one-time fee once your new hosting is set up.

Do I need the plan?
